The iHeartRadio Music Festival is a two-day festival held each September since 2011 by iHeartRadio in Paradise, Nevada. From 2011 to 2015, the festival was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada, with the Las Vegas Village outdoor venue added in 2013. The 2016 event will be held at the T-Mobile Arena. The 2011 edition was broadcast by VH1, while every edition since 2012 has been broadcast by The CW.[1][2][3][4] The shows get subsequent replays on Palladia.[5]

The two-day festival was expanded in 2013 with the addition of the iHeartRadio "village", a separate event free to attend for those who won tickets to the main event or available for separate purchase.[6][7] According to Billboard, the main festival "showcases some of the most well-established artists in the genre" while the village showcases newer, rising acts.[8] In 2013, the magazine wrote that the festival had "quickly established itself as a home to every major artist."[7]

Britney Jean Spears (born December 2, 1981) is an American singer, dancer and actress. Born in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana, she performed acting roles in stage productions and television shows as a child before signing with Jive Records in 1997. Spears's first and second studio albums, ...Baby One More Time (1999) and Oops!... I Did It Again (2000), became international successes, with the former becoming the best-selling album by a teenage solo artist.[1] Title tracks "...Baby One More Time" and "Oops!... I Did It Again" broke international sales records. In 2001, Spears released her self-titled third studio album, Britney, and played the starring role in the film Crossroads (2002). She assumed creative control of her fourth studio album, In the Zone (2003), which yielded the worldwide success of the single "Toxic".

In 2007, Spears's much-publicized personal issues sent her career into hiatus. Her fifth studio album, Blackout, was released later that year, and spawned singles such as "Gimme More" and "Piece of Me". Her erratic behavior and hospitalizations continued through the following year, at which point she was placed under a still ongoing conservatorship. Spears's sixth studio album, Circus (2008), included the international chart-topping single "Womanizer". Her seventh studio album, Femme Fatale (2011), became her first to yield three top-ten singles in the United States. She released her eighth studio album Britney Jean in 2013. Later that year, Spears began the four-year residency show, Britney: Piece of Me, at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. In 2016, Spears released her ninth studio album, Glory.

Spears is regarded as a pop icon and credited with influencing the revival of teen pop during the late 1990s. She became the 'best-selling teenage artist of all time'[2] and garnered honorific titles including the "Princess of Pop".[3] Her work has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including a Grammy Award, six MTV Video Music Awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award, ten Billboard Music Awards including the Billboard Millennium Award[4] and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2009, Billboard ranked her as the 8th overall Artist of the Decade,[5] and also recognized her as the best-selling female artist of the 2000s, as well as the fifth overall.[6] The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) lists Spears as the eighth top-selling female artist in the United States, with 34 million certified albums.[7] She has sold 100 million albums and over 100 million singles worldwide[8][9][10] making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. According to Billboard Spears has sold about 22.38 million singles in digital downloads in US and is the fourth best-selling female artist since Nielsen SoundScan began.[11]

Rolling Stone recognized her instant success as one of the Top 25 Teen Idol Breakout Moments of all time,[12] while VH1 ranked her eleventh on their "100 Greatest Women in Music" list in 2012,[13] and Billboard named her the sexiest woman in music.[14] Forbes reported that Spears was the highest paid female musician of 2012, with earnings of $58 million, having last topped the list in 2002.[15]

Aubrey Drake Graham (born October 24, 1986),[1] known simply as Drake, is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor.[2][3] Drake initially gained recognition as an actor on the teen drama television series Degrassi: The Next Generation in the early 2000s. Intent on pursuing a career as a rapper, he departed the series in 2007 following the release of his debut mixtape, Room for Improvement. He released two further independent projects, Comeback Season and So Far Gone, before signing to Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment in June 2009.[4]

Drake released his debut studio album Thank Me Later in 2010,[5] which debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and was soon certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). His next two releases were 2011's Take Care and 2013's Nothing Was the Same,[6][7][8][9] with certifications of quadruple and triple platinum respectively in the U.S., with the former also earning him his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. They were followed by two mixtapes, with the trap-influenced If You're Reading This It's Too Late, and a collaboration with Future for What a Time to Be Alive, in 2015. The former was certified double platinum in the U.S..[10]

Drake released his fourth album, Views, in 2016, breaking several chart records in the process.[11] The dancehall-influenced Views sat atop the Billboard 200 for ten nonconsecutive weeks,[12] becoming the first album by a solo male to do so in over 10 years. Its single "One Dance" topped the chart in several countries, including the U.S., the UK and Canada, where it became his first number-one single as the lead artist. This saw Drake leading the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard 200 simultaneously for eight weeks, coming close to a record held by Whitney Houston.[13] It achieved quadruple platinum status in the U.S., and earned over 1 million album-equivalent units in the first week of its release.[14][15]

Alongside his Grammy Award win, Drake has won three Juno Awards and six BET Awards. He has the most number one singles on the Hot Rap Songs, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Rhythmic Charts.[16][17]

Drake has developed other ventures, including his OVO Sound record label with longtime collaborator Noah "40" Shebib. Drake acts as a producer, producing under the pseudonym of Champagne Papi. Using the "OVO" moniker, Drake has his own clothing line and his own channel on Beats 1. He is also currently acting as the global ambassador for NBA franchise, the Toronto Raptors.[18]

The Backstreet Boys (often abbreviated as BSB)[1] are an American vocal group,[2] formed in Orlando, Florida in 1993. The group consists of A. J. McLean, Howie D., Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell.

The group rose to fame with their debut international album, Backstreet Boys (1996). In the following year they released their second international album Backstreet's Back (1997), and their U.S. debut album which continued the group's success worldwide. They rose to superstardom with their third studio album Millennium (1999) and its follow-up album, Black & Blue (2000).

After a two-year hiatus, they regrouped and released a comeback album Never Gone (2005). After the conclusion of the Never Gone Tour in 2006, Richardson left the group to pursue other interests.[3] The group then released two albums as a quartet: Unbreakable (2007) and This Is Us (2009).

In 2012, the group announced that Richardson had rejoined them permanently.[4] In the following year they celebrated their 20th anniversary and released their first independent album, In a World Like This (2013). The group also released their first documentary movie, titled Backstreet Boys: Show 'Em What You're Made Of in January 2015.[5]

The Backstreet Boys have sold over 140 million records worldwide,[6][7] making them the best-selling boy band in history,[8][9][10] and one of the world's best-selling music artists. They are the first group since Sade to have their first nine albums reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200,[11] and the only boy band to do so. They also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 22, 2013.[12]
